ABOUT EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Some of us call this place Sp’q’n’i, most of us call it Spokane, but for all of us it is home. We

share a common belief that everyone has a right to housing that is safe, stable, and affordable.

Experience Matters is a coalition of local organizations and individuals who believe that we

must work together to develop a regional approach to assisting our houseless community that

will shift power, challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and shape policies that truly

address the root causes of homelessness. A unified approach has proven successful in cities

across the country, but only when solutions are designed by and with those with the most

experience, supported collaboratively by local government, and include all the stakeholders at

the table together.

Experience Matters. Yours and ours. Without including the in-depth knowledge of lived and

learned experience, any plan will be lacking the courage and openness required for building a

new, more sustainable way forward for all our communities, together.
